Costa Rica, Cumbre Oscura
A few months ago, our coffee team began asking this question: what if dark roast could be something special? What if, instead of making an ambiguous dark roast blend that simply checks a box, we had a dark roast offering that told a story, was intentional, and had the same care and focus that our light roast limited-time offerings had? Cumbre Oscura is the answer to that question.
To get a special dark roast, we had to start with a special coffee. We picked a coffee from our newest direct trade partner, La Cumbre, a family farm in Los Santos, Costa Rica. This coffee was very expressive when roasted light, with dried fruit and light nuttiness in the cup. When roasted dark, these notes are transformed into roasted walnut and dark chocolate notes. With a classic dark roast mouthfeel, this coffee brings nuance to a nostalgic profile.
We taste Cherry, Roasted Walnut, and Dark Chocolate.
